Hey all. I'm looking into a recirculation pump for a liebig-style condenser. The inner pipe is 1/2 inch (5/8 inch OD) and the jacket is 3/4 inch. The whole setup is about 30 inches long. I'll be using a 50Kbtu propane burner.
In this situation, about what size pump would I need?
In other threads, I see reference to pumps being sized at about 300-330 GPH, but this seems quite large to me. I'm testing the waters to see what sized pumps everybody else uses.
(If this is a novice question, the please move it to its appropriate section.)

Re: Recirculation pump size
300 gph is 5 gpm, about the same as an average household system.
Most buy pond/fountain pumps because they run on house current. Another option is a 12V bilge pump. The one I have for my gold cleanup equipment is a 500gph unit. It will run for about 12 hrs on a standard battery when I'm in the field. Also have a small power supply that will run it at home.

It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.

Re: Recirculation pump size
I have a couplea 12v 360 gph bilge pumps on small 2amp power supplies for my two stills. both run outa the same barrell and both have diverter valves to switch some of the water back.
The pot still only requires a trickle with my shell condensor.
