Interesting story, sums it up pretty good.
Numerous 57L kegs, some propane, one 220v electric with stilldragon controller. Keggle for all-Grain, two pot still tops for whisky, a 3" reflux with deflag for vodka. Coming up, a 4" perf plate column. Life is short, make whisky and drag race!

Didn't know they had been spying on me!

Thanks goinbroke2. Well done chow.com; accurate and balanced reporting is very scarce these days.

Saw a simillar story done out of Seattle a few weeks ago. Maybe if a few more get out there, we can finally break the guvmint mythes enough to get the hobby legal.
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.

New welder in the shop came by when I was talking to another. He overheard him say to me that mine was really smooth. He asked "You make moonshine? that stuff will make you go blind!" A twenty minute lecture followed.

After tasting a sip of mine (I had some behind the back seat of my truck in a whisky bottle) he then said his father/grandfather/whoever used to make it too. "Tasted just like this, really good"

some people aren't interested in facts, fokelore and superstition are plenty of information for them.
very few people know that I make my own. Quite a few more have tried it without ever knowing it wasn't store bought.

Have some new people in our community from England. Wife runs the "welcome wagon" and also a "newcomers club". Friday night we had a get together and I took my stuff. After a few drinks the guy said "I really like Canadian whisky, smooth and not so overbearing". Because it's in a whisky bottle he read the label and said he would have to buy a bottle. Before I said anything one of the other guys there (a friend) says that it's mine and I make great whisky etc. I changed the subject after saying that I wouldn't do that, it's illegal.

Yes I talked to him about shutting his freaking trap!

Nobody brought it up again the rest of the night luckily. Loose lips.... Now I'm telling everybody to zip it. I was proud of the better-than-store-bought but too many people found out.
