Re: New coppet pot
I have never asked the sizing question. 6 gallons? I take it that means you put 6 gallons of wash in her. How much space is left after you fill her in case you get some foaming. I gather some washes are worse than others for foaming up. I have mainly run fruit washes so far, and have never had a real problem, but will be moving on to grain soon.
I was not too happy with my current build. I am thinking of stripping the pot down, salvaging some parts and making it a bit bigger, but am not sure on how much head space to build in.

Any pictures of the bottom
Congrats!!!
I'm getting ready to do a 12 gal gooseneck (15.5 gal sames size a 1/2 keg). I'm planing on using .063 thick copper and tig welding the seams. I'm looking for ways to fit the bottom. Does anyone have any ideas for me.

Re: New coppet pot
.063 copper. That will be a BEAST! .063 is 14 gauge (.064 I think is actually 14 gauge). That is some THICK stuff. Would be nice to have the bottom done in that, but not sure you need to do the whole think in 14 gauge. I am certainly not saying you can not (I would LOVE a still built like that tank), but it is a little over kill, and certainly about twice the cost it would need to be done at.
Usually 20 gauge (.032) is enough, and many people use 24 gauge roof flashing (.020).

Re: New copper pot
Thanks Husker
I know 14 ga will be thick, but since I'm gonna tig and not solder. I was concerned more of my tigging skills over the price of copper. May try some thinner stock and see how it goes. With wholesale copper prices reaching record lows this week maybe it will drop in retail soon.
