Oak stump for aging.

Post by hoochinoo »

Folks. Maybe this is a strange question.

Is it possible to get a white oak stump say about 18 inches high and 9 inches in diameter. Hollow it out and using a torch burn the insides, pour the hooch in and cover it for again.

Do you think this would work? Am I having a wild imagination?

99% chance it will not work.

In the center of the wood, there will almost always be cracks and imperfectsions. That is why they are careful when cutting staves, and only use certain parts of the trunk.
