Little or nothing to do with distillation.

fertilizer in wash/Jello for protein

Post by Boxman »

I have made a couple batches of the "econowash" recipe. I have been using Miracle Grow for the fertilizer. I use about 5 TBS for ten gallons of wash. Am I going to kill myself?

I also have been using Jell-O as a protein source. Does this sound weird? I swear, I think the little fungi like the stuff.

The stuff boils hard for 3-4 days. I have been getting a gallon of the good stuff and .75 gallons of pot folder per batch.

It seemed weird to use ingredients that are not edible, but it makes sense when you think about growing a culture. The jell-o thing just came to me one day. There are 2G of protein per box. If I use a cherry or raspberry flavor, by the end of the fermentation the red color is gone and the viscosity of the wash is much thinner than at the start. The yeast are diffidently using the nutrients. I put three boxes in a ten-gallon batch.

What about putting cow/horse shit on your garden? :?: :!: :!:

Think about it. In the end, you are NOT eating (or drinking) the fertilizer (or shit). But the plants (or yeast) are requiring it for proper growth.
