Peristaltic pump

Post by jdpete »

Hi

I have a peristaltic pump I would like to use for feeding a continuous stripping head. Unfortunately the pump is not variable speed. Is anyone familier with these pumps? If I put a bypass valve on the pump will I lose some of the accuracy that typifies this type of pump?

Peristaltic pumps are positive displacement pumps, you should just be able to put a motor speed controller on it. :)

I have tried that but it didn't work so well. The motor gets way to hot.

You can put a bypass after the pump but the accuracy will depend on the return valve ie you will have to know by measuring either the output or deducting the measured return for the positions of the valve handle.
Pity about the speed controller that would have made it so much easier.

Don't think so Cob; without valves in pdp's a few are mono pumps (which are effectively a screw pump)and lobed or gear pumps various configerations and materials.

Maybe a needle valve as a bypass valve will work. I'll give it a try.
