Hey all...
Newbie here. Been working real hard on the past few weeks to get everything in order and it finally is finished. I built a 2" Bok reflux column and went with an electric keg for heat. I ran water through it and it distilled water pretty fast. Next step is getting together a sugar wash this weekend so I can really work it out in the next week or so. Waiting is the hardest part. Has anyone run some beer or wine through their still to try it out...or is that a bad idea? Thanks for all the info on this board!

Re: First build attempt
looks just like mine! better solders and bends on yours tho.
how long is your condenser coil? I'm curious because I have same setup but my coil is 11" but not double wound like yours. I'm wondering if I could get away with a shorter coil, and if so how short. Guess we'll find out when you run your 1st run thru it.

Re: First build attempt
A double wound coil can be in the 6 to 8 inch range.
It is the very things that we think we know, that keep us from learning what we should know.
Valved Reflux, 3"x54" Bok 'mini', 2 liebig based pots and the 'Blockhead' 60K btu propane heat

A simple thing like a twelve inch ruler as a scale in the pic is always a good idea.carl1078lewis wrote:looks just like mine! better solders and bends on yours tho.

I'll try and keep a ruler with my camera next time BDog..
My coil is right at 9". I just put down an Wineos sugar wash today and it is off to the races..Guess I'll be able to run something in a week or two. I got my keg back this weekend....I had some couplers welded on by a friend of mine. There's three ports..think i can have elements in two and a drain in the other.
