Best way to insulate column?

Post by Fermentanator »

Hi all.

Can anyone tell me of their methods of column insulation? Ive searched, but havent found any posts of people who discussed their methods. I was thinking maybe I could get up in the roof and use some of the pink bats insulation, and fix it to the column using wire.

Should I insulate the entire column?

Cheers!

The best thing I have found is the foil backed bubble wrap insulation at lowes/home depot or hardware store. that stuff held together with the good sticky foil tape. nothing beats it, looks sharp too.

You should insulate the packed section of the column, and the boiler. Not always possible to insulate the boiler if you are using a naked flame to heat it.

This is what I use. The silver stuff is industrial strength, aluminium covered bubble wrap, used for building insulation, among other things. The black stuff is standard pipe insulation for plumbing or air-con.
