I did a molasses wash using about 6 gallons of molasses and 40+/- gallons of water. No Sugar added.
It fermented in just a few days with tiny bubbles rising like mad. It never did form a cap on the surface.
I ran one run of it straight and didn't like the really strong molasses taste and decided to run some using 2/3 UJSSM and 1/3 of the molasses wash.
It comes out pretty good with a slight molasses taste.
My question is, now several days later, I haven't finished with all my molasses wash and it now has a thick yeast cap on the surface. No bubbles, just a yeast cap.
Is this a good thing or a bad thing?
I've got another two runs of UJSSM ready now and was going to do the mix again to use up the majority of my molasses wash.
What do you experts think? Use it or pitch it?
It doesn't smell any different that what it did without a cap.
