boiling you chard wood with you finished product that would speed up for sure.
will it extract unwanted stuff from the wood?
anyone got any idea?
or ever tried that?
and when i say boiling i was thinking like put it all in the still until it start to boil(maybe try to let it simmer a little),
hot solvent work so much better.
but i fear we would get stuff we might not want....
but it would for sure speed up a lot the process.
anyway just a idea that i got tonight, thought i share it.

boiling your product could be a fire hazard,, if nothing more you whould be losing alcohol. it is not just flavoring ,, it is aging
and only time can do that. you can add all the flavor you want to crap,, and you have flavord crap.

picture it this way finished product in the still with the wood when alcohol start coming out lower the temp a lot to a simmer ...then add back what you "re distill"(no fire hazard or product lose) i really never meant to simmer to stuff with the wood like a soup with a open pot that would just be stupid.
and i know that time only can age the product but the flavoring from the wood could really increase from a boiling,
but would that give good result i dont know...

Also, boiling will purge any oxygen from the liquid spirit, and oxygen is an important part of ageing, especially on oak (as I understand it).

Re: boiling you chard wood with you finished product
I tried something like your thinking, almost anyways. I put some char in about 1.35 liters of 120 proof UJSM and held it at 140 centigrade just for about one day. My original intention was to hold it there for 4 days but I quickly realized that it was tasting god awful bitter and some other terrible things too. I strained everything out and I'm now trying it the old fashioned way
; ambient temperature with normal temp fluctuations. cheers, bd.

I do all my own stunts

most likely those bottles of essence you buy are steam distilled Wood, ? (some one that's into making essence mite know more)
you mite be able to place wood of your choice in the vapor path like a gin basket but then it be tricky having the right amount.
Iv played with "artificial" ageing and fast flavoring, some helped but most is just not worth the time. and when all is done it still
has to age.
its just like sup you can add all the vegges and meat you want, but until its cooked its not sup
