Hello,
Is lower heat better when making rum with a copper pot still?
Is it true that a lower heat will make a more flavorful spirit?

lower heat will give you a cleaner product,so if you can make it cleaner in one or two runs instead of 3 or more then you will have more flavor.I don't do much rum but do brandy in one slow run. much more flavor than doing 2 or more runs.

Re: IS LOWER HEAT BETTER?
I always do one slow run with lower heat for the reasons that Dunder just said. I also figure that it uses less propane.
Whether it's better or not is up to the individual stiller I guess.
