I am sitting here in a mellow glow fro my first batch of UJSM that is almost two months old. It's great. I mean really great!!
I just had a small glass of Jack Daniels Which used to be my favorite ever with Coke drinking whiskey and it was awful! Of course I had never drank it straight before. I like MY hootch much better. I drink it straight. So do a few friends. When I first got all this stuff together, a gallon of pure spirits and two gallons of UJSM I was thinking, "I'm rich!", I'll never need to make whiskey again, I thought I had enough to last at least a year. Now I have 3 bottles left and I am wondering if it is enough to last until my last batch of UJSM is at least a month old. It's not even a week old yet and I' worried. I'm drinking a lot more and enjoying it a lot more.
I started with the cooling-management-on-a-milk-can, which is OK up to a point. Upgraded to a Bok-on-a milk-can just cause it looked like a fun thing to do, and it works even better. Just about doubled the output both on on stripping runs and spirit runs for about the same ABV.
There is a 10 gallon batch of fast fermenting rum in the kitchen that has gone from 1.08 to 1.03 in 24 hours. I will strip that the day after tomorrow. I can hardly wait. There seems to be something new around every corner now. I am shooting for a dark rum and if that is as good as the whiskey, I am gonna have to strip another 5 batches to make enough to let a gallon or two age properly.
The wife is out of the house for a month so I get to use the kitchen for all my stuff. I cant remember just where I stashed the last 1.5 liter bottle of 92% pure spirit for aging, (surely I couldn't have drank it all up, I only gave away 2 bottles), so I am gonna have to start a MUM wash as soon as I get the rum wash out.
Hope you enjoyed my ramble, I enjoyed sharing it.
Lord I love this hobby!

Yep, I think I have the bug too, hope I never recover from it. The wife is happy, I'm happy. She calls every day or 3. I tell her little white lies. Yes, I am still going to church twice a week, No, I am not drinking, (too much). If she doesnt come home unexpectedly and find the floor sticky and smelling like molasses, everything will stay just peachy.
In the last 24 hours, I have discovered how to make cinamon schmapps, A double handful of Red Hots in a fifth of 40% pure spirits. There now know my secret, 3 or four shots and the Simpsons are hilarious, really really funny. I couldn't stand them before I started serious drinking. That may need clarificaton, No more than one nip an hour until sundown, then, if the glass is empty, of course it needs filling up.
Doggone it those Simpsons are funny. Gotta go now, typing's getting tough.

Good to see that grog hasn't interfered with worship, Nemo. Do people look when you stumble through the door?

They don't think much of it if you always show up that way. Best way to get through a service in my opinion.blanikdog wrote:Good to see that grog hasn't interfered with worship, Nemo. Do people look when you stumble through the door?![]()
