Brand new

Post by charalzo »

Hey guys, Im pretty new to distilling and brand new to this forum. I joined yesterday and have spent more time reading everything on the forums than doing anything else (even while im in class which might be a bad thing). I live in Nevada, my first question is ive heard that its legal from some people and that distilling is illegal from others. so is it legal or illegal? From this forum I just wanna learn how to produce a good outcome from our mashes were trying to make, and learn some new mashes to try. My friend and I made our first still a couple week ago, we home made a reflux still, which is very sexy and coppery, our stainless steel pot at the bottom of it is only 8 gallons though. if anyone wants a picture of it ill try to post one. So far we have tried making whiskey, which turned out good. Also rum which we did about a gallon of winco bought molasses and about 5 gallons of water, then some yeast (since then i have figured out that this recipe wasnt such a good one) since we only got about a total of 1/4 jar of rum. Most recently we tried making potato vodka, which turned out a little better, if anyone wants additional info let me know. So since im so new, any additional information anyone could give me id really appreciate, im having a hard time figure out what you guys are talking about in some of your posts because of the vernacular you are using.

Thanks

Try Hookline's rum recipe over in the "Tried and True" module.
Recon you'll have better success.

Keep reading and post some pics of your still please.

If you can obsorb everything on the forum in one day you are doing well.
If you are still in class, should you be making your own booze. :?: :esurprised: :esurprised: :esurprised:
Or are you a late age student.
