Hi there
I'm having trouble finding copper pot scrubbers in the uk but found this copper mesh on e-bay (hope the pics uploaded ok), can anyone tell me if this will be okay in the column? how tight should it be packed

Yes ,,good to go,, a bunch of us use that. just roil loosely , to the size to fit.

That's the good stuff. It can be found at garden centers, as it's often used to keep slugs out of our gardens.

that is exactly what I use. It works very well. I roll it up just large enough to stay up in the column. One roll of it was enough to pack 36" on a 1.5" column.

Same thing I use too. I use 2 stainless steel scrubbers in the bottom, then pack the rest of the way with copper mesh.

After years of use it will be all patinia and ugly and it still works great.
