May I stay with you folks?

Post by rednose »

I started with this hobby in December last year but had some previous experience with fermenting and wine making.

I learned almost all I know today from you folks and now I can’t say anymore that I’m a home distiller anymore.

I already have two distributors of my products and will be ready to elaborate about 100 bottles daily in about 2 to 3 weeks.

I have several 600 Ltr fermenters and two 300 Ltr stills in workshop, my 100 Ltr “Apollo” rig will serve for testing new receipts, nothing more.

To read and participate in this site was an enormous pleasure and and great learning curve, I would like to stay here if the mods allow me to, but I’m commercial now.

I will not promote to do anything against the local laws (where other folks live) but here in EC it’s not forbidden to distill at home.

I’m actually making my license for being an official artisan distiller in EC, my qualification and professional permits will be finished in 2 month.

I’m affiliated in other distilling institutions but like I said it’s really great to participate and interchange some thoughts with you guys, even if it’s only receipts as my “hardware” is pretty different now.

I hope that one day secure home distilling will be allowed in all countries as there is nothing better than waking up next day after a great party without having any problems to work and produce for our beloved country, doesn’t matter which is.

I enjoy reading your input Joe, but I guess the answer must come from the Mods.

I can't see any problems rednose. You're not pretending to be a hobby distiller, you aren't breaking any laws and Uncle Jesse is also a commercial distiller as well as owner of this forum. Look up Pioneer Spirits http://www.pioneerspirits.com/main.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

I guess that he and the mods will be the final arbiters though.

I see no reason to leave, if you enjoy posting here.

There are other (legal) commercial members here. Most do not post a huge amount, but we greatly enjoy your experiences and some of the cool toys you get to play with.

I believe you have been able to separate the commercial side of your ventures and have been appropriate in posting. The main concerns we ever had was that many people not "in the know", and also the 1000's of 'fly by' people that read a few posts on the site from some google search, would find posts about producing spirits and selling, and get the wrong impressions about what this site is trying to promote.

You have done fine, walking this line. The regulars of the board have enjoyed hearing of the 'big boy' exploits.

I would personally like to request you stay as a member, if you are able to.

Thanks all for your honest opinions.

Maybe one day our case could be a sample to show the governments that someone that put enough energy in a project, without the stones in the way of prohibitions, can generate work for many people direct and indirect, even in a smaller biz size.

How someone can improve his abilities if it’s forbidden to do so? :?

I really didn’t have the intention to go that far commercial but I was in national TV with my small distillery and many people came to try the booze and offered to distribute it, I couldn’t say no, sorry.

Hopefully next year I can visit Uncle Jesse (I’ve seen his web before), this year I will have a lot of private money and timely efforts to put in the new biz. :|

I love the presentation in the video but on the other side they say that they invested 500.000 USD for a bottleling machine.

How in the world they can make handmade likker with the two small stills shown in the vid and justify the bottling street (what stills they have in the other buildings?).

I prefere to see the vid again and get the best out of it for my personal plan which isn't massive sell of likker but a touristic attraction selling more the hotel part than the likker.

Other than that, what works in USA or NZ or wherever can be that it doesn't work in EC cause here is missing only that the watch is running counterwise.

Anyhow the vid is a great motivation and example that it can be done great things being small, depending how you sell the idea.

Hope I'm not offtopic again.

Hey Joe,
This was a post from 3/15/10. I guess good new travels fast. :D
Joe, I don't have a say one way or the other but I've said it before and I'll say it again, I always enjoy the information you provide and some of the unique perspectives you encounter in your travels in EC. Good Luck with your endeavors moving forward and I would like to read about your progress. Thanks for all that you've done.
