Narrowing down first still, need some advice

Post by bigjimmy1972 »

So after doing lots of research here over the past week I am getting closer to putting together a setup. I am planning on picking up a 50l/13g keg and removing the sanke valve. Also I am planning to pick up the "2" Copper Pipe To Keg Kit" from milehighdistilling.com (http://www.milehidistilling.com/Stainle ... /16608.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

What are your opinions on the pipe to keg kit? The gasket looks to be rubber... is this a bad choice? Is there a better conversion kit available? Once the sanke valve is removed, will this kit fit right on or will there have to be further modifications?

Once I have confirmed that this will work and not cause me to much grief I am going to contact stainlessstuff.net and have them build me a vm column to fit it.

This is as far as I have made it. Any advice you could give to help me out would be much appreciated. Can't wait to to going on this. Thanks

Looks like you have a good plan. I haven't used that kit personally but several members have inquired about them and I haven't herd of any problems. Mile hi has a good reputation.

One thing you might want to do is contact your still fabricator first. They could probably design the tower and flange together. That would save you 30 or 40 bucks.

Was thinking the same thing.
Have you spoken with Manu?
If your gonna use him, seems to me he could set you straight on what would be most turnkey.

Stainless stuff.net does not know your setup, try Mcmaster carr for your fittings and pipe.

What does that mean wonder?

Surely Manu is intimately familiar with a tri-clamp?

Thanks for the advice about talking to Manu first. I'm about to shoot him an e mail and see what he has to say. I was planning on getting the kit to save some conversion confusion. Was thinking that telling him I needed a column to fit a 2" connector would be easiest. Anyway I'll see what he has to say and then take it from there. I'll let you know how it goes and with any luck have some pics up in a few weeks! Thanks
