my pump isn't playing nice with my liebig - too much backpressue I think, it is straining the pump and the flow is much reduced, can't run full power. time for a worm or something I guess...

Take a tee off the line between the pump and the liebig. Put a valve or tap in the new line between the tee and your water reservoir. Bleed off sufficient water so that the pump and the liebig are both happy.

Yeah set it up like that to start with, the backpressure from the liebig is sufficent to render my liebig ineffective at reasonable power inputs unless the bypass is all but shutoff, by which time the pump is groaning at me anyway, so I figured I'd just remove it for the meantime. new build soon anyway.
Maybe a dumb question....but what is a liebig? I have a High Capacity PRO SERIES II. You can run the water from a hose (which then you have to run the outflow into the yard) or use the circulation pump from a tub of cool water. No mention of a "liebig"....please explain.
The Liebeg is a condenser design which is the part on your still that you connect the water hose to so you vapors condense back into a liquid. There are a few other coolers that can be used but most common are the worm condenser in a bucket of water or the Liebeg tube such as you have. MM
