For my new still, i wanna use a copper boiler, but I'm having troubles finding a boiler.
I can get a copper sheet, so I started to think about building one out off a sheet.
Flat bottom (easier to stand), cilinder, and a hammered helmet.
Does anyone has any experience and can give me some tips??
Thanks

No experience here but I would go for it if I were you. I think it would be pretty cool to have a still that you built from the ground up. Take pics.

Thanks, I would say the same
But maybe I will, in 2 weeks I can buy the sheet.
Untill there is no boiler, I will start to build it all by myself

Re: Selfmade copper boiler
If you go to the parent site there is information on building a 5 gallon copper still out of sheet copper, and you can even download the pattern to use to cut it out.
i also found a post on youtube that was a series of movies of someoen building a copper kettle/still.
I will see if I can find the link for you.
However, it is much easier and cheaper to build yourself one out of some copper pipe and a stainless steel pot or keg than it will be to build youreslf one out of copper.Unless you are a skilled sheet metal worker and can afford the cost of the copper.

beelah nailed it. i suck at working with sheet copper but i solder ok. so i tend to use a keg and go with copper pipe and fittings from there. others on this site are gifted with skills that i don't have. working copper is at the very top of that list. if you do it... please show us your progress with lots of pictures.
show us the good, the bad, and yes the ugly too.
there ain't no shame except for bad cuts,

Re: Selfmade copper boiler
It can be done, I built the thumper for my Frankenstill from sheet copper, the big drawback is that you will need an oxy torch to solder with as the heat from propane or Mapp gets sucked up due to the mass of copper making it hard to solder, also hard solder would give it more strength which would definatly need an oxy torch for any decent size cylinder.

Re: Selfmade copper boiler
At least I found a copper boiler from a heatingsystem.
This was my first choice, so no selfmade copper boiler anymore.
