beer and sugar wash in the same fermenter

Post by liverkilla »

hi guys

(newbie alert)

i have a 60l plastic fermenter that i had originally purchased to to double batches of beer in.

im not sure if this is a stupid question but....

im planning to run a birdwatchers sugar wash in this fermenter. Im worried that the tomato paste will seep into the plastic and stain/contaminate the fermenter? i still plan to use this fementer for both beer and sugar washes. (it was hard enough to get the purchase past the missus and i dont want to have to purchase another fermenter)

Am i over thinking this?

i guess this clears my thoughts on brewing sugar washes in plastic vessels, i have been wondering for a while would it have to be food grade still or could one use any plastic vessel, thanks.
