Re: the penny whistle experiment
somehow my dephlag ended up longer than yours and let me tell you when that bitch is full of water it is really heavy. the 2" triclamp will hold. mine is not sturdy as I would like it to be but it is the top of the keg that gives not the conection. I am thinking about having some cross supports welded across the top of my keg to stiffen it up a bit..

My connections are rock solid. But you could be right about the kegs Mike.
My bud keg flexes round the nipple. Seems strong,,, but there is definite movement.

Always nice to look back and be able to say, "I'm glad I done that". Trying to convince yourself to do it is a much harder task. Ya got it looking good there Spooky -- I think that's a light I see deep in that dark tunnel. (hope it aint a train )

Re: the penny whistle experiment
The height of the downcomers (inlet) above the trays looks high to me. There is gonna be a lot a liquid in that column when that baby is up and running. Might need a bigger boiler!
That is quite the project. Have to admit that I am a little jealous. Good luck!

OD, do you and Shinner allow for that much liquid retension also?

Re: the penny whistle experiment
thats a possibility, the downcomers are 1/2" above the plates,,, the collection cups are a little less than 1" above the plates.loneswinger wrote:The height of the downcomers (inlet) above the trays looks high to me. i hope if anything, they are too high,,, i can just take the plate assembly out and make adjustments as needed.. if there too low, i guess im just S.O.L .

Re: the penny whistle experiment
mine are about 1/4" above the plate and the caps are about 1/2". I dont see where it will hurt anything though.. Just be more bubbles... Might really be a good thing.. I am glad to know you were able to file down the sight glasses from inside.. Now if I ever have to work on mine I know I can file min down and install new plates.

Mine are in between the two at 3/8"high, as Spooky says he can allways cut them shorter if required.LWTCS wrote:OD, do you and Shinner allow for that much liquid retension also?

I wonder if you can find a pipe cutter with low enough profile? Probably not. It would have to be super thin. Maybe this will be my million dollar design!!1/4 inch wide pipe cutter.
