Online poker

Post by Husker »

Won the largest online tourney today that I have ever won. Was a free roll. 20000 ppl started, top 60 won $5.50 and top 7 won entry into a $80000 guarantee tourney (usually gets $125 to $250k in buy in's). After about 4 hours, I was in 4th place when we reached top 7, and the tourney ended. Not bad, outlasting 19993 others.

Now, I just need to do that good in the 'real' tourney, lol.

Nice job Husker. I gave up poker but I always like to hear of some one doing well.

I have re-worked my poker on stars. I had put $400 in a couple years ago, and built it to about $1200. But then, lost it all not long after.

Now, I have started from nothing, and have money'd in a couple free rolls, and now have been playing some 'hyper turbo' 1 cent tourneys (won a couple of them, 990 entrants). I have built up to about $35, and have moved up to 10 cent and quarter sit-n-go tourneys.

I read online about someone working on turning $5 into $100k in a year. I am not sure he made it, but I know he was over 20k. I would like to do the same from zero to 100k and if I can do it, I'll write a book on how I did it. Poker books sell pretty damn well (to a small number of people).

Playing in these 'hard' micro sit-n-gos have honed my skills quite a bit. They are VERY VERY aggressive, and teach how to play very hard, and teach just WHEN aggression is supposed to be used. My tourney play is MUCH better than before.

I lost 70k or so in 2 years on the tables so no more for me but it's a hell of a lot of fun to watch. If you can do it I'll by your book.

Love the game Husker. Being from across the pond I did'nt play well before the onslaught of the internet. Now at Full Tilt, I can keep up with whats being bet folded, Etc; Some friends and I usually get together once a month, put £20.00 each on the table and the person with the most amount of chips and the Runner up at end of the evening takes the cash (Usually £100 / £140) split 60/40.

RD, never played for that amount of cash, but would love to watch that being gambled. (Anyway I think she might notice :esurprised: )

A skydiving mate of mine went to lunch in a pub that had poker machines. He'd never played them before and he had three bucks in his pocket. Put them in a dollar machine and second button press won $9996.00. When I asked him about the third dollar he said that he forgot all about it. What a fool, he could have won another $9996.00 or even four bucks would have rounded it of nicely. :)

He hasn't been near them since. What a bloody loser!!!

I'm a professional Forex trader and can double you a demo (virtual) account in a week or so, but when it comes to invest your hard earned bucks it is difficult to double an account in a year.

just reading about your tourney that is awesome, if have been playin for prob 15 years or so I have been a online prop(paid to play) that was cool - before the poker boom. Had some decent wins for 5k -7k live and online. paid for my 72 chevelle and my 10 year anniversarycruise and the truck im driving now. I maybe new to distilling but playn cards is what I know best. never made it big the best year I had was 36k but that was alot of traveling and 5-6 days aweek online up to 10-14 hours days not good for the family life so I took my bankroll paid for college courses took my wife on a cruise bought my car. Family is the most important thing and coul;d see myself losing track so changed it up, now I only play about 3 nites a week. Sit n goes or the way to build a bankroll than limit poker many times at no limit you will stick your roll in with AA KK QQ only to have someone call you with a better hand or get lucky so play no limit with a small part of your roll. dam I finally found a post that i could comment on. good luck at the tables

Well,

After my first month (actually last half of the month), playing in a poker school 'league' (PSO or Poker School Online), I placed 4th (out of over 10k players). Now, I about blew some position places with someone that called my STUPID jam on the first hand of the 2nd to last game. Fortunately, I was able to salvage my month, and stayed in 4th place. Got $500 (will get it Monday or so), not bad for 'free' poker, lol

http://www.pokerschoolonline.com/league ... =&month=-1" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

Note, you may have to choose Sept to see the results, as once November (or later hits), the link above will point to wrong month.

Lesson learned about that 2nd to last game. Do not drink 250ml or so of shine, and a couple beers, and play. It is likely that the hand I lost would have gone down exactly the same way, no matter if I played it overly aggressive, or not. But it is one thing to be very careful of. When you are 'there' and have little lose, and someone else has nothing to lose, then be aware that the 'very rare' loss like this can be a big disaster.

Cha-ching. Got the $500 a couple hours ago. Nice little email from the league, also, well, actually from PokerStars themselves, since they are sponsoring the league. Sponsoring, lol. I have done some rough computations, and if only only 20% of the league is out collecting the 20 points per month needed to get to the '10x higher level of payouts', then they are likely making 40k in rake (on a 17k / month investment). I bet their return is even better, along with they are 'training' people to play some real money, and even giving them some skill to keep their head above water fairly well. Whoever at PS bought the PSO league (from another online poker site), should get a damn good bonus check this year!

And from my perspective, it is win fucking baby, win situation. Free poker, improve my skills, get better patience, and free cash for doing well. Glad I stumbled across this 6 weeks ago.

My neighbor is a huge poker nut. A couple of years ago he won an online tourney, the prize was a seat in the big World Series of Poker tourney in Vegas. I think the buy-in that year was $10K, so it was a really nice win for him.

Unfortunately, he was out in less than 4 hours of play, but it was still a great story to tell.

Since winning of online poker is currently only taxed if you take the money out, and losses can be taken against gains, then my plan is to get to where I am making steady income online, and then using that to buy into some of the larger tourneys. Longer term goal, but what the hell, I think I can do it.
