MECCA aka the Kentucky Bourbon Trail
Just completed the Kentucky Bourbon Trail by motorcycle in 2 days. We toured the 6 distilleries on the trail and finished up at Buffalo Trace for their "hard hat" tour. What a great experience! Each distillery had their own slightly different way of doing things and the people we all wonderful. I learned quite a bit for my own home distilling operation as well. I highly recommend this trip for anyone interested in distilling, Bourbon, travel and US history.

Thanks for sharing. its on my bucket list long lost though. did g you get your passport stamped? you'll get a free t shirt
Re: MECCA aka the Kentucky Bourbon Trail
I wanted to do that this past summer, also by motorcycle, but "stuff" got in the way. Maybe next year...
I'd love to see your route. Seems like a fair amount of planning would be necessary to hit as many places as possible without backtracking too much.
I've been to Rabbit Hash a few times.

If you could pick a standout (the best tour), who would it be?
The reason I ask is, Mrs Hooch & I are plannin a southern states roundup next summer. On the agenda is BBQ, Beer, Bourbon, and Blues. We figure we'll swing through KY and visit one (maybe two) distillery in bourbon county ...

Makers Mark was good but in my opinion Buffalo Trace was the best. It is not on the official trail but did have the best tour by far. Make reservations and get the "hard hat" tour. We did hit all of the distilleries on the tour to get our passports stamped to get our free t shirt as a memento of our trip. If you can your trip when Keeneland is open that is well worth a day at the track as well

I know this is an old post. I thought I would add some info for those interested. There is a website that has a lot of info.
has a map and best route info. Have lived in the area all my life and have never done the route. I have always wanted to and am thinking with my new hobby it is time. Fall weather is approaching and all the fruit and vegetable farms along the way will be selling this time of year. There are a lot of pretty good wineries popping up in the are NECa too.

Earlier this year went to visit kids and grand kids at Ft Knox. Got my passport stamped twice. Jim Beam and Makers Mark. Very good tours with knowledgable guides. Amazing experience and looking forward to two more tours next year.
