Getting Ingredients

Post by memetic »

I went to localharvest.org and found out that there is no local wheat in my area. (If you are into buying food and ingredients locally I highly recommend that site – it is a really good resource.)

So, I have to buy the flaked wheat and crushed wheat malt online (the ingredients are hard to find and the prices are very expensive). I have found two online stores: RiteBrew.com and Homebrewers Outpost. The later has very good reviews on Google, but the other doesn't. Anyone order from these companies before? Are there any online stores that are forum users' favorites with established reputations?

Thank you

That's a pretty cool site, I have a few local farms listed there, but no grain.

I've gotten grain from http://www.northernbrewer.com before ....reasonable prices and shipping, and I dunno how homedistiller.org is affiliated with Brewhaus, http://www.brewhaus.com/Grains-and-Adjuncts-C99.aspx , but their prices look OK too .

hope that helps

It does, thank you.

edit: Ugh, they don't have crushed wheat malt. This has been an elusive ingredient thus far -- I just found one place that has it and they have no reviews.

Actually, they do have crushed wheat malt. If you search for "crushed wheat malt" you won't find it, but if you search for "wheat malt" you will find it with an option to get it crushed or flaked.

Order placed.
