Fores and the 'all feints' run

Post by IslandTime »

Hi y'all.

I apologize that this is probably pretty basic stuff, but I just want to make sure my thinking is right...

I have just run my first four washes through and am getting set to run my "all feints" rum run. As I was taking off the distillate for the first four runs I would discard the first 250ml (out of a 10 gallon stripped wash), and then make my cuts.

It seems to me that since we are not making the nasty stuff in the foreshots, but simply separating it, that I shouldn't be concerned with fores in my all-feints run since it should have all been discarded in the previous runs. Can anyone confirm this or correct me if I'm wrong?

Many thanks...

Id take them off, if it did not have the "nasty" stuff in it it would not be feints.feints are a mix of good and bad, caused by the transition between
the for shots and harts, harts and tales.

That makes sense. Will do.

And thanks for the quick reply, Dnderhead.

just remember not to bother collecting the 'feints' from this run. in general you can add some feints back into fresh batches but when you do a 'special' run with 100% feints you don't want to be trying to save anyrhing other than hearts. well that is my take on things - others may not agree.

Yea, after the whole thing was done and I was looking at my collection jars all lined up there like birds on a wire, I realized that it was kinda a stupid question, since I'm gonna end up throwing the first few away anyway... Hadn't quite thought that whole one through...

Still learnin'...

Thanks, Y'all
