boiler size calcalator

Can some one tell me if i build a boiler that is 21"round x 18"tall . What would the capacity be!

So, h=18
r=10.5

volume = about 6230 inches ^ 3

A quick convert from 6230 cube inches into gallons, gives me about 27 gallons.

woo hoooo thats what im talkin about! i love it when i see copper boilers ,,,, of any size.
i use to work in a sheetmetal shop (duct work),, and we had all of the cool tools,, none of the prefab bullshit. on a piece like this, i would encourage you to go to the oldtimers in the hvac biz and see if anybodys around that uses any of those HAND CRANK machines to make 1/4" lips on a round piece orrrrrr someone that knows how to use a pitsburg machine.. also, if you can find a good one, you can just give the demintions and heed lay it out and all. im not saying let the guy build it for you,,, but having the right piece for the job is priceless..... shit.. i wish you was closer to knoxville. id turn you on to a first class metal bender.
anyway,,, whatever route you take,, ill be a watchin

KS at that size in copper it would be nice to build an onion, although it would reduce your capacity a bit. Globe templates are reaily available and they can be stretched into an onion sheape/

thanks guys. Hey spooky I do have a buddy that has been in the hvac biz for many years.. He has those tools and will teach me how to use them. When I get ready I plan on pickin the hell outa his brain..
Im just trying to get an idea on how much copper I would need and what thickness I would use for it.
Just more Ideas floating through my pee brain..

1,880.2432 +/-0.00027 square inches for the 3 surfaces, of course you'll need to buy more to lay it out.
The cylinder is 65.97" x 18" and of course the top and bottom of the cylinder is 21" diameter so you will need a minimum sheet of 42" x 21". This leaves no room for thickness of cutter so add a little cushion for this

what thickness I would use for it.

KS - I used 20 ga is my last build. I ain't no sheet metal guy and don't have access to the tools you're takin' of, but 20 ga is pretty stiff. I don't think I'd go much thicker than that, maybe 18 ga. I don't think 24 ga would be strong enough for the size you're thinkin'.

Well, that's my 2 cents worth anyway.

On the circumference of the cylinder I did not allow for tabs if you have an HVAC guy rolling it over but everything else should be exact. I took it into my 3D software and made a solid then used the command roll-out which breaks it into the individual parts
