Anyone know how to make a white rum from neutral spirit?
I have been using white rum essence from the home brew store, but i was wondering if there was a way to make an essence at home or flavor neutral spirit to mimic Bacardi?

I'd stick to buying the essence. Probably less expensive and time consuming to go buy it from the local HBS, than to stuff about trying to make it.
Simple potstiller. Slow, single run.
(50 litre, propane heated pot still. Coil in bucket condenser - No thermometer, No carbon)

Making essence as brewn is suggesting seems to be as I said, " expensive and time consuming" and I stand by that. Try making it and prove me wrong. I'm basing my comment on my early experience. If you want white rum, make white rum .
Aqua, you don't like what a suggest, say so. I despise sarcasm.

Ditto Blanikdog. When I first looked into this "hobby" the guy at the brew shop tried to sell me everything he had. Said, all ya need is sugar (tried to sell me that too), I got all the flavorin' ya need. When I asked him if that's how they made real whisky he kinda stuttered, said, mine's just as good. Told him I didn't want just as good, wanted the real thing.

Sorry blanik I just had to
To make an essence at home would be to mimic a mimic. Either buy essence or make your own white rum from scratch as suggested above..
You'll find lots of threads about rum washes and cuts if you search some.

Makin a neutral spirit can be harder than makin a white rum. Neutral means different things to different people, but to me it's high-proof pure hearts with a hint of flavor from the wash.
Adding flavorins is fine as long as it's not used for coverin up mistakes. Brewshops have the cheek to offer vodka flavorin; if they were real then the vodka flavorin will be pure activated carbon.

Neutral to me is 95,6% ethanol without any taste at all.
Vodka flavouring mimics wheat taste. Many of those flavouring companies is Swedish and here almost all people make neutral from sugarwashes and then you won't get any wheat taste as a real Vodka have.
I'm not saying that is any good though, I've tried one and wouldn't say that it was an improvement of my neutral.

There are prolly dozens of varients for rum. And the Hook rum thread is a great place to start. I feel like Hook has explained his methodology with plenty of latitude for adjustments based on available base material as well as other factors.
I'll echo Blanik. If you want rum, just make rum.
If your running a reflux rig, just pull out your packing and run with you valve wide open.
