Re: bubblifier
thanks. my camera is a nikon d40x 18-200 lens. the image sensor is shot from living in the workshop, that's why there are always little specs in all of my pics. new similar models (d3000 d3100) have a built-in image sensor cleaner...gots to get me one. there was a recent thread on cameras here: http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... ilit=nikon

I've bought items from klg. I check their website again but it looks like it's not working properly. They also sell on eBay. I have in the past contacted them through eBay and got them to put an order in for me. Although lately I like stpats. Great service and fast shipping.
Re: bubblifier
condensificator, when you turned the inside of the weld ferrels to seat the glass, does the glass sit flush with the ferrel or is there a little protrusion to allow for a slight compression of the gasket when the tri-clamp is tightened?
Great looking project BTW.

Re: bubblifier
the ones you are talking about, i turned so the glass was inset flush in the recess. the newer way that i am doing it requires no turning: http://homedistiller.org/forum/viewtopi ... 73&start=0
both ways have been tested and work.

Re: bubblifier
Condensificator, one of the things that has bothered me about my build is that there are places in my still that seem to hold liquid unless I hold the still at just the right position to drain it (nothing much really). I don't know if you see this as a potential problem with j-traps but I can't help but think that drilling one or two 1/16" holes into the bottom of the j-trap would be a benefit because it would allow proper drainage once the vapour flow ceases but would most likely hold liquid in the j-trap as long as there is a vapour pressure just as a normal perforated plate will. I was also thinking about using a 90 angle instead of a j-trap just so that there is drainage and there isn't a direct vapour path, but I doubt this would have the desired effect. Anyways, I'm not doing a build until I've finished reading flute talk and Complete Distiller. I'm a little fuzzy on the details.
Your still has the sort of beauty that only an object of nature seems to have, like an old mossy tree but the colours sparkle. Time and good use will be the final distinguishing characteristics no doubt!

Re: bubblifier
thanks ED...makes sense. i'm not really concerned with that at the moment, but once i am running and trying to tweak things so they are perfect, i'll re-think this...sounds right to me? i was already planning on doing a little drain hole on the bubble-cap plates for that very reason (which i am going to have to wait on so i can get going on this bitch!!! perf-plates will be the first set).

Re: bubblifier
nope...not the way that i am doing it...more like 25-50%. i am doing them bolted on to 1/2" riser caps. i will get there, but i am SUPER busy right now...no time to play.rockchucker22 wrote:You had the caps done that's 75% of the build. Either way can't wait it will be awesome.

Apologies for off-topics:
Has anyone bought from KLG's site recently? The site looks like its being updated, I'm having the same problem as spooky but can order one at a time if necessary. I was just wondering if they're still operating, I'm in America until the 26th (April) and, if i order today or tomorrow will I get my parts in time/at all?

Oh, I was aware of that link what I meant was: is it still ok to buy from them? As in, it won't take 2 weeks for delivery?
Edit: KLG doesn't supply gaskets - is there some sort of standard? I.e could I buy them from somewhere else and they would fit?

Re: bubblifier
Sorry ks I already placed my order with them! I had to go with the cheapest option, sure you can understand, on a tight budget So I tried my luck. If they don't deliver, then I'll cancel, and get them from you before I go back. Still send the original order I placed with you asap please

Hey Condensificator, I'm wondering whether you've done any more work on your "Bubblifier". What you had completed sure looked impressive.
