Hello everyone,
I got plenty of glass bottles, all stink from heads and tails.
What would be the best, easiest and fastest way to clean them?
Thanks

I usually clean them with a rinse of Dawn soap, then I use a laboratory glass cleaner called Alconox which does really good. I think it's sodium carbonate. I got a 4# carton a LONG time ago as it goes REALLY far.
Beyond that, for some really stubborn stains, left over residue, or other gunk left behind, an hour bake in the oven at 450°F and a slow cool down seems to work too.

I use sodium carbonate, let them soak for a few hours... Works every-time...

What proportion do you use for the sodium carbonate and water mixture?
how long do you soak the bottles in the solution?

I don't get it. Doesn't a normal washing up with some dish liquid and a handbrush do the job? I just stick them in the dishes and wash them together with our dinner plates. No smell, no nothing.

Re: Best way to clean collection bottles
I've noticed a few times a residual scent of the previously stored wash/distillate after washing. It's mainly when I rinse and cap and don't air out the jugs/bottles. I also find that inverting the bottles to drain and air for a day or two helps.
