My boka

Post by Caprimulgus »

Here she is in potstill mode with a little over one third of her column attached and one roll of mesh inside. There was a dripetidrop inside that bugged me. But I can't taste the difference with or without.

Here's the crimped mini leibig. Who invented this again? Who ever it was, has a wonderful sence of simplicity. It does the job just fine :) Modular, kept together with a copper chain, but not sealed, to avoid siphoning.

And here is what she looks like from where I'm sitting now :-)

It's not "run" by the computer :) But I do have a cheapy USB thermometer, since I'm in front of the screen most of the time anyway. I see the temp all the time, while doing other stuff online. And the software makes it easy to take and save notes.

Tell me more. How'd you make the ring and where'd you put it?

Sorry Braz :-) Well, I cut out a 2" circle of the 0,7mm leftover copper sheet from the slanted plates and drilled a 1" hole in it. Then I cut off maybe 8mm from a 1" tune and soldered it on to the round washer like disc. My column is 110cm and I just plonk it in the join, 60 cm's up from the boiler. I would have taken a picture of it, if it wasn't so stuck in there already

Edit: And oh.....yes, the 8mm tube bit is faceing downwards.

OK, got it. That certainly sounds easy enough.

I wonder if it would make any sense to add a second centering ring maybe halfway up the column to re-direct whatever liquid might have migrated to the tube wall on its way down.
