Lots of great info here. I am shopping for my first still and I have learned a lot just by lurking around. I look forward to learning all I can about home distilling from you fine gents.

Howdy neighbor. :ewink: Good to have ya. Whatcha like to drink? That's gonna be the biggest factor in deciding what type of still to build or buy. I'm ruunin low on home made so I'm a hungover hog myself this morning. :tired:

Thanks for the welcomes guys!! I have been thinking about a Flute but that is a pretty big investment. Are they all they are cracked up to be? Glad to see some good ol' Arkies here with me.

Welcome to the forum, if you are thinking about building and you have looked over the designs it still helps to show your plans before the build to make sure you have things right. People here are willing to help if you do some research, we all misread things at times and it helps to have other opinions before you lay out a lot of cash!

Bit of parody with the flutes.

A fairly sophisticated piece,,,,,,till you understand and get some experience......Then the same piece really becomes simple and efficient..

Go with a low budget pot head and research the flute threads.

If you think your gonna stay with this,,,,then the flutes become even more hard to resist..

Can't go wrong with a pot head.

Uh ya that would be a big investment. Are they all they cracked up to be? By all accounts they do exactly what they are designed to do. Which is to produce 90%+ ABV with flavor at pot still take-off rates. Are they the best option for someone just starting out? Maybe and maybe not. IMO probably not. If it's flavored spirits your after my advice would be to build or buy a decent pot still and learn on that. Learn to walk first then think about running. Edit: Posting same time as Larry ......Edit #2 and the same time as Spooky. @ Spooky
