Hello Folks,
I am getting ready to build a phase angle controller to control the 5500-watt heating element in my boiler. I was going to use the United Automation PSR-25 phase angle control module but I have found that United Automation makes a 40-amp version of the PSR-25 which is the PSR-40. In seeing that the 25-amp PSR-25 is at the upper limits of controlling a 5500-watt heating element I would like to use the 40-amp PSR-40 module and have a safety margin and not have to worry about burning up the phase angle control module.
The problem I am having is locating a USofA retailer that has the United Automation 40-amp PSR-40 phase angle control module. Perchance does anyone know of a USofA source for the United Automation 40 amp PSR-40 phase angle control module?
Regards,
Coaster

Re: 40-watt PSR-40 phase angle control module ?
You need to be carefull with all of these. They are SINGLE PHASE regulators. ie they need a supply of 0v and 240v in 1 phase. NOT a split single phase with 2 hot wires both being 120v.
Previously the tech support folks have told me that if you are using split single phase you need a controller on each leg. They will also work on 110v but at lower power.
I would strongly recomend that you fit 2 smaller elements instead of the 1 big one, and recalculate your controller requirements.
