Hello and Thanks

Hello all. i've been reading on the site for about six months now. What a fantastic source of information. I'd just like to thank everyone for sharing their knowledge and experience. i'm only now posting because i havent had much to contribute. Any questions i have had, i have been able to answer myself from my many hours of reading.

I have to say, there is quite a learning curve that comes with this great hobby. I think that i've probably made every one of the rookie mistakes, but some things you just have to do the wrong way to understand why it is wrong. I built the internal reflux design with the cooling water running through the column (i found this site after i built it). I plan to convert it to a vm., probably this winter. Although i do a stripping run, then pull 94% with the spirit run and am satisfied with that for now.

I started out using turbo yeast, and also was a bit greedy pushing the sg kind of high (without taking a starting reading). Not making proper cuts. Had to clean everything up with carbon filtering. It takes a lot more time and patience than i would have anticipated to get a quality end product. Thanks to all the information on this site though, I've been able to work through my errors and make some pretty good booze that i'm proud to call my own.

Tough not talking about it a little, but i do the best i can. Told some family and a few friends.

I've also had a close call already with the man in blue. Kind of sucked, but made for a funny story that i'll save for another post.

I remember the very first time I logged onto this forum, I read for five minutes, and didn't come back for six month. When I did come back for a second look I read for about 30 minutes, and didn't come back for another three or four months. But there's something about this hobby that just calls you back. Pretty soon I was reading once a week, then everyday, then I started building with copper.

It's a great hobby with a wide variety of rewards.
