Yeast strains capable directly ferment starch, inulin...

Post by ahto »

Have lately found some very interesting information about yeast strains capable directly ferment starches and inulin without hydrolyse step (enzymes or chemicals).
One of these is SIHA AmyloFerm from German company Begerow which is high alcohol tolerant (up to 18% v/v) yeast strain capable ferment starches directly. Technical data sheet could be found here - http://www.sinerji-as.com/documents/TI_ ... erm_En.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow. Direct fermentation is even better than using "no-cook" enzyme complex like STARGEN.
Unfortunatelly I got replay from Begerow that they do not have it anymore in range.

The other one which is not commercially available is Saccharomyces cerevisiae strain ATCC 24858 (=KCCM 50549, =C-79094) capable directly ferment inulin in Jerusalem Artichok tubers.

Does any of you know similar commercially available yeast strains which are able to ferment directly starhces, inulin (Jerusalem Artichok tubers) or xylose?
