"supermarket moonshine"

Post by Rachiu »

I have no home-brew-shop in my country, so I gathered tips from here and beyond and I developed my own recipe for my "supermarket moonshine". The ingredients are very usual.

My recipe for 60 liters wash is very simple:
- 10 kilograms of sugar
- 500 grams of tomato paste
- 500 grams of bran husks
- Juice from 5 lemons
- 50 grams boiled yeast
- 1 tablet vitamin B
- 50 liters of water
- 50 grams dry baker's yeast

I Dissolve 10 kg sugar in 10 L water and squeeze 5 lemons. Bring it to boil and simmer for 30 minutes to invert the sugar. The last 15 min of boiling add 50 g yeast. Cool with 20 L tap water and pour into the fermenter barrel with a lot of splashing to aerate the mix. Add the tomato paste, bran and crushed B vitamin mixing well. Add another 20 L water for an almost 60 L total wash volume. Splash well with a mixer for additional aeration. Make sure the temperature is below 28*C then add 50 g hydrated yeast. Cover the barrel with plastic foil tied with elastic rope and leave to ferment out completely until stops the fizzing noise.
It should provide 10% ABV and if left undisturbed, it will settle well.

What do you say about my recipe? Is there something wrong with it?

Making shine in Bucharest sounds like a whole lot of fun.

You have a good still? Your recipe and process sound solid.
