Finally. Broke down today and ordered a 5 gal toasted. Been doin some single malt barley usin about 25% backset and I figure with a three day weekend I'll have enough to fill it when it gets here. I'm thinkin, first use, maybe 5-6 months. I'm hopin in a few years I'll have some damn fine whisky!

Did you get one with the faucet/spigot option or not? I'm thinking about getting one to put my grape brandy in but I can't decide about the faucet. My thought is that if I can take the bung out to taste every now and then, and have the bung seal back up I don't need the faucet.

I wouldn't put grape brandy into a gibbs barrel. Its a whiskey machine...

nothing,and after if you want you can put whisky in it,some of the scotch/Irish is done that way.

Ya, ordered the spigot option cuz I don't want to fight with about 50 lbs when it comes time to drain the barrel. Also Braz, I got a bunch of peach wine waitin to be stilled and I'm thinkin I might use this barrel for that, if I end up with enough brandy to fill it. If not I have enough single malt I'm finishin up this weekend to fill it. Haven't really decided yet though.

Go with the spigot. I had the same dilemma and I'm much happier with the spigot. You can always plug it
