Post by schmand »

Hey guys,

my name's schmand and I am from Germany! Have been reading this forum for several months and then decided to participate some weeks ago.
Maybe I can give something back to HD.

Schmand,

What are you going to make? Do you have a still already? Any preferences? Whiskey, vodka, schnapps?

Curious to know!

Welcome Schmand. I don't think we have a lot of Deutchlanderen here. Is it true that it is legal to own and run a still if it has been in the family for a long time?

What part of Germany are you in?

Hmm, difficult question. I think if I can get some grain I am going to make some whiskey. I like that stuff :D
I do not have a functioning still yet, but I got some kegs and an almost finished pot still head. I don't have much time to build so I am looking forward to get it finished this year

Yeah, true. Most of them visit a german/austrian forum, but it's not very informative since it is run by a commercial still seller and book author -> not enough "free speech".
No, unfortunately not  You can have a still with a 0,5l boiler though; but that is senseless in my opinion.
I am from former East Germany.

Hi Schmand,

I met a lot of "East" Germans when visiting Hungary years ago. Iron curtain about to fall and stuff like that. You ever visited Hungary?

Welcome to the forum, I will be visiting your country this Tuesday for 10 days but will not get to the former East Germany. I will be mostly in Frankfurt and Passau.
