So I've bee lurking for a couple of months now and reading what I can. I finally started my first Birdwatchers wash a couple of weeks ago and it's coming along nicely. I plan to build a small cm still with a detachable column and condenser so it can be run as a pot still also. I'd like to use this to learn the basics of making a great neutral and ultimately use that knowledge to make great whiskey and gin.
Thank you all for lending your great experience and maintaining this site. Hopefully I can help in the future.
Hello and thanks!

Welcome aboard Newbrew,
Nice avitar. All the info you will need to become a great artisan distiller is here. You may be told to go read a few times but everybody here is happy to answer well formed questions with well formed answers. I think you are going in the right direction. Start simple and learn what works for you and what kind of still you will ultimately want to build or buy. Have fun. Stay safe.
