Bootlegger's Son from Alabama!

Post by Bootleggers Son »

Hello everyone, I am born and raised in Alabama...I am a retired "FireFighter" and have always wanted to distill some corn. I was actually
raised in a Bootlegging house. My Daddy was a Bootlegger for at least 30 years... Sort of embarrassing when I was younger in school, when I got older it didn't brother me...He
was just trying to make a living for his Kids...In my Daddy's younger days, he ran shine off Monteagle Mountain, in Tenn, later on he sold just bonded and beer, I guess this is another story...For
sure that is part of the reason ,I am here....Hope to gain a lot of knowledge here. I bought me a cheaper still (from ebay)... to play with until I could gain knowledge to make me one...Thanks, for allowing me to become a member
to this great forum... :)

Welcome to the forum, if your dad is still alive you need to get with him and purchase or borrow a recorder to document his past. I wish I would have done that before my father past away. During the depression my father was the sparing partner for Tiger Jones then the light middleweight champion of the world. He got $10.00 everytime he sparred with him which back then $10.00 a week was a lot of money.

Raised in bamma myself, monkeytown to be precise. Welcome sir! Get your feet wet in the novice forum, read about the use of plastics and synthetics so you can check out your still. do a cleaning run, vinegar and water and a cheap sugar wash should do, then hunker down in the tried and true section and pick a good recipe.

Keep us posted on your progress!!

My Dad has passed away ...all I have left is his guns, and my memories....Thanks to everyone for the Welcome!
