Putting older posts here. Going to try to keep the novice forum pruned about 90 days work. The 'good' old stuff is going to be put into appropriate forums.

copper packing

Post by marshrunner757 »

I run a mildly packed column with copper. Wash it off with water hose after each run. My question is how often do you replace the old packing with new?

Ok, thanks. Just wasn't sure if there was a max number of runs you should use it for.

copper is sacrificial.over time the acids "eat" away at it.this makes copper sulphate witch drop to the bottom of boiler.this is good as it removes sulphur compounds from distillate.
