Thanks for running such an informative site. I am heeding the advice to slow down and be smart about this adventure.
I am worried that this reality show on moonshining will trigger too much interest, and as a result, injuries, fires, etc. Which in turn arouses the interest of law enforcement.
Call me paranoid but a lot of people put too much information about themselves on this site. It is very easy for the Feds to track an IP address down. Does anyone else feel this way? Personally, I have told the people who know of my new interest to keep quiet. I wish I had not told a couple of people, but too late now. I will keep my fingers crossed and keep it on the down low.
Well back to my reading. Best wishes to all as we move towards the Holliday season and new year!

Welcome Ryverview,
Being admin here, I have seen the activity on this board, caused by these shows (very large increase in search engine traffic). I believe your prognostication is correct, and this show is not going to do the hobby distillation movement any good at all. Too bad

Welcome Ryverview.
I don't think you are being paranoid, but in my (perhaps naive) view I don't think the Feds are all that concerned with the small time distiller who is making small amounts for personal consumption only. Like the entire Federal Gov't they are understaffed, underfunded and overworked. To the extent they are actively pursuing moonshiners I think their priority is the guys making and selling, not us.
It is the locals I worry about.

A agree Braz, but the problem comes from too many foolz, either thinking they have found the easy way to make cash, or from them doing some experiment, and burning down their apartment complex, or some other such act of stupidity. That then generates very bad press, etc, etc, and puts us all in a bad spotlight.
It takes only 1 fool to spoil the careful work of 1000's.

Welcome to the forum, very interesting and I think Husker is correct, it only takes a few idiots that qualify for the darwin award to set our hobby back a few paces!
