I'm an eager noobie too. Just joined the tribe tonight. I've learned alot scouring this site for a month or so and like you I have my first wash in the fermenter (but the still isn't done yet). I am also making a stove top pot still to start with and consider this first try (and probably all the rest too) a learning experience. I can't wait to here how your first batch turns out. I figure it'll be a couple weeks before I can break in my new still.
my first strip went really well actually.. i was making changes to my still on the fly because there were things that i did not like. second strip went to hell because i was just a little to full with a little too much heat and yea it puked all over the place talk about a mess lmao.. if you already have a wash fermenting i would say better get on the ball for making a still.. it will be done before you know it and then you will have a completed wash and no still to run it through. talking from experience o yea do all you can to fight the urge to put a thermometer any where on you still, you will just be filling in the hole later on down the road like me.
