Seems I got ripped off by the stillbuilder also. Luckily I paid with my Discover card and I've filed a dispute, should be taken care of within 30 days. Now where to get a still from a reputable dealer.

Both the above are totally reputable.

There are many more reputable builders out there too.

Thanks likkerluver, I just placed an order with Brewhaus. Geez, I can't believe I didn't do my homework on this, thats totally unlike me. I guess I should have known it was not reputable or professional by looking at all the poor grammar and misspellings on the stillbuilder website.

Hey GTW,

I replied here - but realized we would be dragging things off topic. Check for a PM.

Indeed. The lack of care for basic grammar and spelling on their web site had me wondering about their care on their product/service. And photos showing somewhat careless builds with odd angles and extensive solder drips along with the constant bickering about some 'other' products being lousy, poisonous, etc. (rather than verification of their own product's results as other builders provide) caused me to Google "stillbuilder complaints" which is how I ended up finding this site.

Oh, BTW, hello. Rank newbie here. In learn and discover mode.

Same storyline on their sales pitch. So it feels really familiar.

Good catch. I tried to look at that site the other day. And it wouldn't let me.

But add another name to the ever growing list.

Looks like they've taken the banner off of the Discovery channel's website for their new reality show "Moonshiners" in an attempt to try and legitimize themselves. Junk is still junk no matter what you call it. There's going to be a lot of people out there thinking they can make it big just like the guys in the show. It saddens me to think these guys are going to probably make some money off of it. Here's the link to the show if you haven't seen it yet... http://dsc.discovery.com/tv/moonshiners/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow

I ordered from http://www.bootleggerstills.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow, so I was lucky or he's doing a better job with it, the flange was copper plated and SS screws and producing good stuff and getting better as we learn to mash better.

If I had found this site earlier and I wouldn't ordered it, but then I wouldn't have had 4 quarts made yet either, if I still had to figure out what to build and then learn how to run it.

Meh - I still dont think that buying something from one of these companies is a great idea. I am sure there are plenty out there with the "I just cant wait" attitude - I know because I was one of them. But as it has been said many times here before there is something to building your own and learning the ins and outs of the still. Anyone who is in that big of a hurry for 4 qts of liqour would be better served going to the package store and saving this hobby for someone who can develop a llittle skill and patience. Just my opinion.

Shut the F up , man you all have your head up your asses, if this is the way you treat new guys,I have ran pontoon forum for a very long time, if we get someone in who buys a boat that we know is close to junk, guess what we do ??? STFU and tell him to enjoy it, as long as there is no big safety issues with it.

Yes I bought the still, and I'm going to use it,(but I didn't get it from still drinking, even I figured that out easy) till I get the next one made, wasn't that hard up to make some, but what I'm making is fine and getting better, a whole lot better than I seen around in a long time, The best I ever has came from Eglin Federal Prison, where they have some of the biggest and best moonshiner locked up, but they didn't seem to have a problem running small batches at the summer camp, they mowed the grass, so had a buddy who over saw them and we always got a quart now and again.

I have been reading on the parent site for a year learning, my brother and I had been talking about it for years, but now even though I bought the wrong thing, because there was no big warning about the site or the stills on the main site, and since I'm Admin on two forums, I had enough reading to do, so didn't see the forum button and the parent site had to much reading to do as it was.

But thanks for the Welcome ADMIN EDIT- that kinda talk isn't allowed. Giving you 30 days of to read and think it over,

WOW -- that's not what we do here.

It's your still you can do what you want with it. When I bought mine from these guys I learned to solder by "rebuilding" the still, sans the glass jars, and continue to run a potstill on that same basic design -- just NO glass jar thumpers.

You gonna have to tuffin up a bit if you're gonna hang around here very much.

Ordered from Bootleggerstills.com on 11 Jan. Contacted by Shirley and she stated they lost my order because they moved shops but is starting on it now. PayPal status changed to shipped on 24 Jan. USPS site just says electronic info received.

I guess that is what I get for not doing research or building on my own... :D

Yep, mine was shipped on the 24 too but when Mike called me they had not started it yet because of the switching shops...so at least everyone has the same story haha
