I'm new to this. I have never distilled anything, but have recently bought a 10L Copper Pot Still. I have done a lot of reading and am about ready to start making.

I've found a good Single Malt Scotch-style recipe with instructions on the site, but am looking for a good Bourbon-style recipe with instructions.

Any help would be appreciated.

Also if there is anyone from SD area let me know.

Welcome, I love the climate and area you live in. We often vacation at the Lawrence Welk Resort and Ocean Side. We have some good recipes that you can find in the Tried and True Section, you might want to check out UJSSM recipe!

Be patient with yourself (and those trying to give advice). A 10 liter boiler is going to be a frustrating still to learn on. You will need to run slowly to get the fractions to separate. I'm speculating you'll use this to familiarize yourself with what it takes to get it done then if you decide this is for you you will then upgrade and hone in your abilities. Best of luck.

My goal like you said is to learn on it and determine whether or not it is for me. I don't drink much(i.e. a glass every few days). So there isn't much need for me to have a lot of alcohol around(but don't look in my liquor cabinet). Ultimately my goal is to learn how to handle this whole process. I would like to go into business and open a distillery(big plans right for someone who doesnt know how to do anything yet??).

My hope is to learn the basics and hone my skills. I'm in the middle of writing a business plan, in the hopes I can get some seed money. My background is such that I can handle marketing/retailing, and getting everything setup. I don't have any experience/knowledge in the making of it(other than that I have been a voracious reader/researcher the last few months).

I finally finished buying all the equipment so hopefully I can get my first batch going this weekend!!

@Wolf

You mentioned it being hard to get the fractions right. I did have a thermometer installed on the head, thinking that that should help with controlling it a little better. Let me know if you agree and the reasons why/why not. I'm a sponge in search of knowledge!
