Yeast and Salts

I've been reading through posts and saw recipies containing salts and "fertilizers". I realize the salt and fertilizers wont distill, but as a cook by trade, salt controls the growth of yeast. Wont that have an adverse affect? Or not enough to be noticed?

i thank what they are refering to is mineral salts,not sodium chloride.
