When I first started using my Brewhaus CM 2" column I was using a bunch of small pieces of 3/8" (10mm) tubing cut in short pieces inthe bottom of the column with SS scrubbies on top of that for my actual packing. I could not find any "copper" scrubbers that didn't have a magnetic attraction(?) at any price!!! I guess that is what happens when copper is $4.00 a pound!! Anyhow, since I have switched to structered copper packing. I have noticed a big difference in the smell and taste with the copper packing! And the results were contrary to what I expected. The taste of my wheat whiskey seems better with less copper! Do I prefer some sulfides in my distilate? Is this situation specific to my current wash? Everyones' wisdom is appreciated!
Thanks!,

Re: Too much copper packing?
It mite not just be the fact you have all cooper packing now. You said before you had cut up pieces of copper pipe in the bottom. By having two types of packing its not going to be as efficient as all scrubbys. So maybe it wasn't scrubbing it as hard before.
You mite try it the way you had it before. Only replace the stainless scrubbys with the copper ones. And see what happens?
Just a thought.
