my first build
So this is what ive built so far. 1.5" pot still column 36" tall. With a 24" liebig condensor. Also my condesor for my seperate vm column. Let me knw what yall think.
Re: my first build
Looks great to me. When I created mine I added a piece of 3/8 pounded flat and spiralled (in the opposite direction to the spiral you made for your water side) and inserted it into the vapor path for turbulence. much better performance. Coil looks like ya might have flattened it a bit but should work. try blowing into it to make sure it is not restricted. would suck to find out later.
keep the pics. commin.

Re: my first build
It did flatten out a lil. i did flush water though to make sure it works and to check for leaks. No problems found.
Re: my first build
My still is finished. Got 20ga stainless pot, 3' pot still column with 24" liebig condensor, 3' packed coumnup to a slant plate boka head with a 8" coldfinger, double coil single wound condensor. Everlasting ptfe gaskets to seal her up. Ran 2 vinegar washes and a water tests . No leaks. Ready to run first alcohol test soon. Cant wait. Heres my finshed stills.
Re: my first build
@ Bstillin,
Looks good except for the Black Seal Gasket under the sink drain fitting on the pot lid. It appears from the posted picture graphics to be some type of Black Rubber Synthetic Material. What is the Black Seal Gasket manufactured of?

Re: my first build
It is just the black gasket that came with the drain. The drain is fed up through the lid. With a ptfe gasket on the inside. The black gasket is outside of any contact with any alcohol so i didnt think it would be any harm. It can be easily removed.
Re: my first build
@ Bstillin,
If there is a Seal Gasket it is there for a reason – the reason is to prevent a leak. That means that high temperature alcohol vapour is in fact coming in contact with that Black Synthetic Material. The Black Synthetic Material Seal Gasket should to be removed.
Suggest replacing with an Everlasting PTFE Gasket ->

Re: my first build
Thanks for the imput coaster. There really is no need for it being on there other than it being a washer between the lid and nut holding the drain on. Since it probably isnt rated for high temps it has been removed. I do appreciate how someone here is always looking out anothers safety.
