Backset Still Useable?

A feller wants an opinion on how long 4th gen backset from the UJSSM will last in the fridge. He's thinking of using it to add to an All Bran start for the acidity and to add favor if it's not too old (8 weeks old). He's also wondering if the UJSSM yeast bed that's been sitting under airlock for two months could be restarted? How can u tell if its gone bad? Thanks in advance for the advice fellers.

Backset should be fine. Just boil it with the sugar. If its got any bad stuff in it the boil will kill it. Have a look at a dunder pit. And what is in one of them. Just don't fall in.

The yeast however? This depends how it was stored? You said air lock. Does that mean it was left in the fermenter and the lid thrown back on it with the air lock? Or was water added to it and transference to a smaller container with less air space? Is there mold on it? You can always add a little sugar water to it and see if they perk back up?

Yes, trub was covered with fresh water and lid was replaced with airlock.
