That is exactly why I love it!

We are just a bunch of big kids with train sets. RC has built a facinating machine. Add the extra plate! More knobs! Train whistle! Woo Hoo can I run it?

Your pulling my leg. I saw that still in the shop, why, just a few weeks ago.
Admit it, you bought it didn't you.
It was just beside the rocking horse shit, hens teeth, and that bottle of fairy farts.

Seriously good job bloke. Glad to see it running. And with the sucess you deserve.
But I somehow got the feeling you are going to make an all glass one next, given the ammount of peepers you have.

I reckon the extra plate should be good for a few more points, but that take off rate looks more than acceptable. How fast does a man need to go? (don't answer that, just keep going)
Something comes to mind about cow's pissin', but I just can't find the words. Only still I seen here that goes that fast is LW's.

So how long does it take to do a, say, 40 litre 10% charge. From fill to finish?

Long live the thump tower!

Huh? We are not really paying attention, We are looking at all the windows, knobs and tubes.

Interesting!
I missed this? What do we have here? Is this during a run or did you shut down to take the measurements? I need more info. Please please please!

And on your extra plate. What is the rolled section where the peephole meets the column? I likey.

That depends I supose how clean one wants it really? How many cycles one chooses to employ in order to arrive at the desired level of purity?
My big question is how will the remaining boiler charge(water) affect the prolonged cycling at the top of tbe apparatus? As the top will ultimately require an amount of latent heat that would seemingly not be enough to render any vapor from the boiler. I am hopeful this means no water infiltration once optimal purity levels are acheived on the plates,,,,,,,,,,,if ya drive it correctly.

How did you test the ABV of the boiler? Didn't think a alcohol meter would be accurate?

How much power was you throwing at it?

I think you could get more accurate readings if you started with a diluted strip run for a boiler charge. It could be accurately measured with a proof/tralles hydrometer. Dilute a stripped run down to 10% or so. To simulate a fresh wash. You would also have a better idea of how much alcohol was actually in the boiler charge.

Electric allows you to calculate watts and vapor speed from your amp meter. Actually total vapor volume per minute then divide by average diameter for speed. But, until you have a target vapor speed it will just be numbers.

OOoooooh ! ! !
I don't know !! ! !
You might need to send that thing over here
where I can fix it for you ! ! ! ! ! !
It is not the matter, nor, the space between the matter,
but rather, it is that finite point at which the two meet,
that, and only that, is what is significant...........
(Of course, I could be wrong) ..........

What I was trying to say is that with his skills making the still, adding the element and controls will be easy.

Good to hear its working good rock.

Looks like a bit of kit that likes a gut ful of alc to work a treat. It looks like it would work well on a spirit type charge, where there is plenty of alcohol available.

Well that's an idea ive toyed with, and partly why I wanted to see what the abv is/was.

PP I'm running propane, so one more ? as to what power this equates to. As you said a spirit run would tell more. So I also need to convert to electric...... Arggg too much to do.
Can get some thermo wells for 3 bux and land them at each plate level to monitor vapor temps. Get the vapor temps at the top 3 plates to match and hold and I'd say you would be running really optimally!
Dunno if you would be able to keep the liquid reflux off of the thermo wells with how you set the rig up and thus screwing up your true vapor temp measurement.
