Haha yeah im saving it for now but so far the rum has already mellowed a bit after airing, though i think its a pretty light rum anyway, so might leave em out in the end anyway. Search function and some testing with my PH tester i found eventually in the back cupboard tells me my tap water is a bite alkaline at around 8, no wonder my cichlids dont mind straight tap water lol never tested it outta the tap before in all these years just tested their tank with strips. Oh well anywho so im thinking my small teaspoon of citric acid last time wasnt enough for the birdwatchers, just threw another one together, took measurements this time which i havent done in years and years with the beer, wash comes off at sg of 1.100 about 10% potential, sounds about right, gotta get that ph down a bit thats what i jumped back on here to check what a good ph would be, word on the forum is anywhere from 3.5 to 6 or even 7 so i think ill drop it to about 6 and see what happens, and see how much it takes to get it there so i know next time too. The molasses run seems to drop its own PH just fine thats comin out at 5.8 off the bat, must be that backset that i did remember to save, or something in the molasses.
Suppose it shows that the turbo and esencia packs surely have ph buffers in em at any rate.

Holy ****!!!! This molasses one is going like a cut snake, fizzing away after about 20 mins like a glass of coke, airlocks blooping away like crazy. Left a hydrometer floating in each one this time so i dont get the same mistake again lol kicking myself now but ah well fun and games. Will sleep well tonight with the soothing sound of multiple airlocks blooping away peacefully from the other end of the house, ahhhhhhhh bliss
G'night all!
