Do you know what the gpd rating is on the membrane?

And did you get the rest of the parts? The valve and maybe a holding tank?

More then likely its a 18 to 35 gallon a day membrane. That's what most RO units come with. You mite be lucky and have a 50 to 100 gal a day? If its not marked. You won't know till you test it.

The valve is an auto shutoff valve. I guess if your not going to use a tank you won't need one. The good thing about tanks is. You don't have to wait hours for some RO water. Kegs say its a 18 gpd. That's only .75 gallon an hour. If you have a tank the tank will hold a reserve of already filtered water. So you can get what the tank holds instantly. Well as fast as the little hoses will let it. I have 3 2 gallon tanks on mine and its a 100 gpd membrane. So I got 6 gallons on reserve and it will put out around a gallon in 15min.

Once you get it plumbed and doing its magic you will wonder why you waited to install one!
I put one in about 2 weeks ago(freebee)100 gal,the filters cost around $95.00 for 4 filters,including post filter. It is totaly,amazing how it made my water close to tastless,been using this for diluting!

Yep, filtered water is the only thing I dilute with... good stuff maynerd... I talked my wife into it (mine cost $300), by saying "if all hell breaks loose, we'll atleast have good, safe water"....

I am replacing everything, so I went 75 gpd ro membrane.. But I am reading it uses about 3 gallon of water to make 1 gallon ro water.. seems like alot af wasted water... so takes 300 gallons to make 100 gallons. Now I am wondering if a storm knocked out your power like last Hurricane could you filter your swimming pool water to drink? I have a gen.

Yes you could. Would need a good pump with enough pressure. They work better at higher pressures. And a good carbon preliminary filter. Chlorine is bad for an RO membrane. But if yours is setup like mine it goes through two carbon filters first.

Good choice on the 75 gpd. How much did that run you?

70$ for r/o membrane ... I went with pre filter then carbon then carbon block . looks like it was plumbed to have the carbon block on the post ro side , I am changing that back and found the 4 gallon tank..http://www.waterfiltersonline.com/filmt ... branes.asp" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" rel="nofollow cost me about 155.00 for everything I had to get the matching waste valve for the 75 gal. membrane

That's not bad. I paid $300 for mine new with a 2 gal tank.

Check out www.thefilterguys.biz for prefilters, carbon filters and RO membranes. This company is great and they are very knowledgeable if you have any questions. They have GREAT prices on new RO units too!

I run a RO/DI unit using two 75gpd membranes. Using 2 membranes makes twice the amount of water and uses the same amount of waste water as if you were only running one membrane. That's very nice whether you need that much water per day or not.

vinper the filter housings on your RO unit are LONG. Holy cow. I bet your replacement filters are ridiculously priced. You might consider replacing those filter housings with 10" housings to save on replacement filter costs. Standard size replacement filters are typically MUCH less expensive and more readily available too.

In my experience you don't need a post filter. Just good prefilter, carbon filters, membrane/membranes and it is always optional to run a DI canister in order to make 0 TDS (total dissolved solids) water. RO water is usually anywhere from 2-5 TDS or so. If you use a DI canister it will pull out the remaining solids giving you basically 0 TDS or 0 PPM (parts per million) water quality.
